Frequently asked questions about our treatments
It is performed using microinjections of hyaluronic acid, a component found naturally in our skin, making it a safe, temporary, and absorbable procedure. The technique adapts to your anatomy, style, and desires, without altering your expression or exaggerating the results.
It is well tolerated, and topical or infiltrated anesthesia can be applied if the patient prefers.
The duration of hyaluronic acid in the lips is usually between 6 and 12 months, although it can vary from person to person. Factors such as individual metabolism, lifestyle (smoking, sun exposure, intense exercise), the type of product used, and whether it's the first time undergoing the treatment directly influence the duration.
In patients with a more active metabolism, the body tends to reabsorb the product more quickly. Therefore, in some cases, it may be advisable to perform minor adjustments after a few months to maintain the ideal result.
Yes, you should return to work immediately. You may experience mild swelling or a small bruise, which will disappear within a few days.
Yes. Hyaluronic acid lip treatment is not recommended for pregnant or breastfeeding women, or for patients with active infections in the treatment area, uncontrolled autoimmune diseases, or a known allergy to any of the product's components.
Before any treatment, Dr. Carlota Berenguer performs a complete medical evaluation to ensure it can be performed safely.
After lip treatment with hyaluronic acid, it is important to follow a series of recommendations to ensure the best results and avoid possible side effects:
- Avoid touching or massaging the treated area for the first 24 hours.
- Do not apply makeup to your lips for at least 24 hours.
- Avoid strenuous physical exercise, saunas, and heat exposure (such as hot baths) for the first 24-48 hours.
- Do not take alcohol or anti-inflammatory drugs (such as ibuprofen) just before or after treatment, as these may increase the risk of bruising.
- If swelling or a small bruise appears, you can apply local cold with a clean compress (never ice directly on the skin) and creams with arnica.
Returning to your daily routine is immediate, but these precautions help ensure a more lasting and natural result.
Treatment includes two sessions:
- First session:Â A personalized medical assessment is conducted, and if the patient so desires, treatment is administered at the same appointment.
- 2-week review:Â Once the product has settled and the swelling has subsided, we evaluate the final result, assess symmetry, and listen to the patient's opinion.Â
This approach guarantees a result natural, harmonious and adapted to each face, with professional follow-up at all times.
Yes, it is entirely possible and common to combine lip fillers with other aesthetic medicine treatments, as long as they are performed safely and with personalized planning.
For example, it can be combined with:
- Neuromodulators to relax the orbicularis oculi muscle and soften the barcode.
- Hyaluronic acid in other areas of the face to harmonize the facial profile.
- Mesotherapy or biostimulation to improve the quality of the skin around the lips.
- Peeling or laser  to rejuvenate the contour and treat spots or fine wrinkles.
Dr. Carlota Berenguer will advise you during a consultation on the best combinations based on your goals and facial features, always prioritizing natural and safe results.
