Gummy smile
A gummy smile occurs when you smile, showing too much gum above your teeth.
This imbalance may be due to muscle hyperfunction (the lip is raised too much) or a lack of structural support in the upper lip area.

How do we achieve this treatment?
Depending on the cause, treatment may include:
- Neuromodulators: relax the muscles that raise the upper lip
- Hyaluronic acid: provides support and volume at the base of the lip to limit its lifting
Both options are applied quickly, safely, and with natural results, improving the proportion between gums, teeth, and lips without the need for surgery.
Frequently asked questions about our treatments
How is a gummy smile treated?
It can be treated with neuromodulators, which relax the muscles that elevate the lip, or with hyaluronic acid, which supports the upper lip so it doesn't rise too high. The choice depends on the patient's anatomy.
Which option is best for me?
It depends on the cause of your gummy smile. Dr. Carlota Berenguer will evaluate your case during a consultation and recommend the most appropriate treatment, or even a combination of both if necessary.
When will the results be noticeable?
- With neuromodulators: among the 3 and 5 days, with full effect on day 10-14
With hyaluronic acid: the results are immediately visible
How long do the effects last?
- Neuromodulators: 4 to 6 months
- Hyaluronic acid: among others 8 and 12 months
Is it painful?
- No. Both treatments are minimally invasive. Topical anesthesia can be applied if the patient wishes.
What care should I follow afterwards?
- Avoid massaging or pressing the area for the first few hours.
- Do not do intense exercise or expose yourself to heat for the first 24-48 hours.
- Avoid makeup on the same day
